Walking meditation is a simple way to open up to spirit for guidance. What I mean by that is simple. We just look at what is around us, listen to the sounds we perceive and keep an open mind. No headphones, no making phone calls or texting. Just walking, looking and listening.
I took this picture while taking a walk in a park. The tree bending toward the lamp just struck me as iconic. Plants bend toward the light and what a crazy whimsical image of a tree bending toward an electric light. Since the leaves have not come back yet, the direction and shape of the tree's branches are all the clearer.
So what does that mean for us? We also bend toward the light. How so? What lights up your life? What do you want to know more about? What light are we moving toward?
Let's do a little walking meditation with our observation of our own space for a moment.
What are the things that we have around us that we use all the time? What things are just taking up space? Why not make more space by letting go of those things we don't use? That gives us more space for what we really love. Or maybe it just gives us more space.
When we look at the books on our shelves, which ones do we refer to all the time? Which ones contain information that we want to study but just have not found the time to read yet? Which ones are stories that we really want to read? You see, what we want to know is the light we are bending toward.
See, the truth is also revealed that what we have never gotten around to reading for years, we may never, so let go. It's place can be taken by something that inspires us now, something we will read and use right away.
When you look back over your life, do you see an alignment between the things you have done that you loved, and what you plan to do more of?
When you look over your proudest achievements do you ever feel pulled to do more that would inspire those same feelings again?
When you recall the best teachers you have had in your life, and you remember how your life changed because of them, has that inspired thoughts about how engaging the services of another teacher who can give you that burst of light again?
Do your dreams and goals reflect your current desires? The light this time is the light within, the fire in the belly. Our fire bends us in the direction of our greatest desire. So knowing that we all bend toward the light, how do we feel about the way we are going? What inspires us? That changes from time to time, so we make revisions to align with our new inspiration.
Whenever we are ardently pursuing a goal, we are bending toward the light. Notice how you hit that sweet spot when you are really on track, and with every confirmation, you can feel it, you can feel that you are making real progress on your goal.
I always love hearing from you, so if you feel like sending me a note, calling or coming to see me, please do!
Have a wonderful day!
