The basic beat in a drum circle is the heart beat. Literally, drummers begin by making the sound of their heart beats on their drums. Consciously focusing attention on the heartbeat, everyone in the circle hears it clearly and tunes into it.
Yes, I know, you are not drumming right now, but your heart is beating right now. Who can hear it? Who do you want to hear it?
Breath was the first drummer. Breath fuels our heart beats. Our words influence our heart beats. Our thoughts influence our heart beats. Our heart beats telegraph signals to those who hear them.
When we tune into the heart beat, our hearts beat together. When they come into sync, beautiful melodies emerge from the rhythm. Melodies without words. Rhythm speaks. Rhythms lead to trance. Trance leads to unity.
Trance leads to higher levels of communication. Communication leads to excitement. Excitement opens the portals to higher levels.
Can you place your hands on each other's hearts and feel their heart beats? Can they feel yours?
