How do I know when?

How do I know when?
How do we know when is the right time to make our move?
Our life is made up of a series of rhythms within rhythms, so recognizing these patterns can help us know when to make our move to begin, end or change something.
You may have noticed different rhythms in your body but not always recognize them for what they are. At times it may feel that although things are moving rapidly in the world around me, I might feel a slow moving energy within that is more deliberate and the rhythm is aligned with my intentions which make sense to me even though they are not in sync with other events, they are in sync with what I am working on. So the rhythm within the rhythm is how we keep on track in our life in the middle of all of this.
One that we all recognize is circadian rhythms, which is our natural rhythm for being awake and going to sleep. When we go to sleep about the same time every night and get up about the same time every morning, our body gets better sleep because is finds its rhythm and whatever we are doing works better when we find the rhythm that works best with it.
Women have a monthly cycle related to menstruation, and a different monthly energy is experienced by everyone when we follow the cycles of the moon every month. There are natural times for using that energy to decide when to begin or wind down an energy.
The Farmer's Almanac always has pages in there that detail these times for timing all the rhythms of our life, from starting new business, ending old business, the best times to cut hair, best times to cut nails, best times to bake, best times to brew, best times for hunting, fishing, planting, pruning and much more.
Ultradian rhythms happen throughout our day, often in 90 minute cycles. For example, when working out at the gym, I notice that my peak performance time seems to be 90 minutes. Often when studying a book or working on my computer, I notice that at these intervals I need a break. Often when teaching I offer breaks at intervals to help with this. We all need breaks to stretch, move around a bit or get water or something to refocus our energies.
You might never have noticed the pattern before but now that you do, you can plan to use it.
Are you aware of the patterns of rhythms in your life? Are you making good use of them?

The photo above is the great drummer, Layne Redmond, one of my teachers who left us much too soon. She is one of the reasons I love drum breaks and use sound in healing.
They say that breath was the first drummer. Think about that when you are taking a break.
I always love hearing from you, so if you feel like sending me a note, calling or coming to see me, please do!

Connecting Head & Heart

Connecting Head & Heart
Feeling in sync with the rhythms of our lives is one way in which we can know we are in alignment. Rhythms bring us in touch with feelings.
Feelings are another key to getting more out of life, especially when our head & heart are aligned. Our senses are primary ways we know about the world we live in, constantly in touch with our surroundings though sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell. Our senses help form our feelings, so these factors may be totally non-verbal, and non-verbal messages are still messages.
How often do we decide to not make a business deal or cancel a relationship because something just did not feel right?
How many times when you were moving swiftly to achieve your goals did you feel like you were confident your would succeed because your desire was strong?
Now when you reflect back on some of these decisions, you can tell where that feeling of alignment provided you accurate guidance, can't you?
You have heard that where your thoughts go, your energy goes. Think about the importance of aligning our thoughts with our feelings.
That is a key to success in life. Why? How many times have we had an idea that we did not feel like acting on?
Notice the difference when we have an idea that excites us and we feel confident about it.
Notice how much agreement from others your get when you feel that way.
Notice how many of your successful ideas or projects had that feeling connected to them.
Sometimes when we are just out walking and we just feel like taking a different path, and then we have a pleasant experience walking that path even though we did not know in advance it would be more beautiful than the path we more often take.
Why do we do that? Curiosity is one motivator. We want to learn new things, try new things, take a different path, taste, smell, touch, see and hear things in a new way. Our senses stimulate our mind.
Notice when you feel aligned. In any major life decision, how you feel about the decision is important. How many times did a gut feeling change your mind about a decision? Were you glad it did?
So how does this fit with where your thoughts go, your energy goes?
Notice how when you have feelings of low self worth that you do not get the respect you deserve? Notice how when you have low self esteem you do not even ask for what you want?
Notice how when you are full of joy that more things will work out for you? Notice when you are more positive, more people say yes to you?
Courage is when your feelings take charge even in the face of a doubt or fear. In this way, your heart can cause your thoughts to align with your heart. I will find a way to do this! So your feelings can focus your mind.
Our mind does influence our feelings. When the two are not in sync, you feel like things are not going well, so you need to change.
Being happy every day is a choice. Waking up with our first thoughts turning to gratitude for this new day can set the tone for a good day and get us off to a good start. No matter what else we have to be grateful for, we can begin by being grateful for this day.
Waking up opening our mind to guidance from spirit welcomes in new ideas and new solutions. Notice how when we are focused on achieving a goal that something may pop up that will help us achieve our goal that we did not plan on and had not thought of before?
That is how the universe helps us when we are focused on our goals and our head & heart are aligned.
I always love hearing from you, so if you feel like sending me a note, calling or coming to see me, please do!
Have a wonderful day!

Celebrating the Storm Full Moon

Try this at home: Celebrate the full Storm Moon.
The traditional name for this month's full moon, which happens on Wednesday the 16th, is called the Storm Moon. Typically, we see one last big winter storm before we finally see signs of spring. Storms bring energy. That energy can be destructive but it can also bring snow to replenish our watershed. Ski resorts love snow storms.
So think about the ways that storms can bring good energy to us. Not all storms come to do damage. Some come to clear away obstacles for us.
These last 2+ years have been challenging for us. The storm caused by the covid virus caused us to do things differently than we used to, and that was essential for our businesses to keep going.
All of us who altered our ways to keep going have discovered some better ways of doing things.
On this full moon, give some thought to those challenges we have faced that made us stronger and sharper.
How can these lessons serve us well in the times ahead for us? How deep is that well of energy that we draw from?
Give some thanks for all those things that went well.
That is the best way to prepare the spring plantings that come after the winter storms.

Valentine's Variations

Valentine's Variations
Valentine's Day has always emphasized the celebration of couples. That is a wonderful thing.
But people who are not currently part of a couple frequently feel uneasy with this due to guilt or feelings of failure from past relationships that did not work out. For these people, this day might be a reminder of what they do not have. It is important to remember that we need to learn our lessons from the ones that did not work well so that we can be mindful to not make the same mistakes over and over again.
For all of those couples who are looking for ways to enhance their relationship or give it a boost of energy, think of the ways to express it that goes beyond flowers and candy.
Think of ways you can make spiritual or psychic connections with your partner in addition to the other ways you connect.
For people who are not currently in a relationship, begin by loving yourself. Be happy to be who you are. Shift your attention to a state of mind where you trust that spirit will connect you with the person who will be the right and best match for you.
When we begin from this space, love for other people in general, the humanitarian aspect of our hearts, lets love and joy radiate out from us in this big way. This radiance signals to other people in general that we would be happy and open to receiving communications in that spirit from others.
That aura that we project is what opens the way for new people to approach us or open further to us in the case of a relationship that evolves from someone we have known for a while, who is now growing closer.
So if you are currently not in a relationship, begin by loving yourself. Treat yourself the way you want to be treated. Treat others with kindness. Be clear about what you want in a partner and reaffirm that in your thoughts every day.
Holding those thoughts will tune you up to resonate clearly and vibrate with recognition when you they appear in your life.
The picture is one I took of 2 heart shaped stones that I found while walking, in addition to 2 pennies. I take finding heart shaped stones as a sign of love from the universe that there is always love for us in this world.
And ever since I was a kid, we had this belief that finding pennies is good luck. This used to puzzle me since the smallest denomination of coin buys the least of anything. However, I find it curious that in the Chinese art of feng shui, having copper in your wealth corner draws energy to that part of your life. Perhaps it is because copper conducts electricity.
Perhaps this photo signifies that by keeping our hearts open, we draw other good things to us. So when our hearts are open, our personal relationships are going better and so are our work related relationships.
All the best to all of you!
I always love hearing from you, so if you feel like sending me a note, calling or coming to see me, please do!
Have a wonderful day!

Celebrate the beginning of spring!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Try this at home: Celebrate the beginning of spring.
Although it is still cold and snowy here, we are now about six weeks from the Winter Solstice, and now we see the sun staying up a little longer.
Our ancestors in the Germanic countries came up with the idea of Groundhog Day. Why? Looking for signs from nature as to how much longer before things warm up.
In the Celtic calendar, this is Imbolc, the beginning of the lambing season, a sign of spring. For the Irish, it is also Brigid's Day, the goddess and patroness of the home arts, midwives, poets and blacksmiths. For those of you still thinking spring comes later, the Celtic calendar has May 1 as the beginning of summer. Brigid was later declared a saint by the church, some say as a way to win the hearts of the Irish in the conversion process.
Above, you see a photo of a Brigid's cross, which people would traditionally weave from rushes or straw at this time of year and then hang that symbol by the front door for protection of the home, and to keep evil, fire and hunger away.
This year the same day is also the Chinese new year, the year of the tiger. Tiger traits are powerful, energetic, fiery, dynamic, adventurous and impulsive. Chinese new year is celebrated in many Asian countries, not just China.
Traditions like spring cleaning are associated with this time, as the name of the month comes from the Latin word to clean, cleanse or purify.
So clearing out junk prepares the house for the new season. As a result of our clearing, we have room to plant new seeds in our life. This spring, what do we want to plant, cultivate and nurture into our life this year?
In preparation for your next season of growth, put some thought into what you want to plant before it is time to plant.
Parallel example. If you want to begin a new relationship or work on improving one you have, how would you do that? I you want to start or grow your business this year, how would you do that?
Remember, where your thoughts go, your energy goes, so the clarity of your thoughts and words, the more certain that you will be successful in your endeavors.
Your Radiant Heart
Your Radiant Heart
I have always considered my practice to be a heart centered business because as a healer, keeping my heart open to help whoever is coming to me for help is what is important. Different people may need different methods, although certain practices like reiki are universal. Being able to open the energy channels is, in my experience the heart that helps bring the healing energy through the hands. People can sense the energy of the humanitarian love and the open heart.
You know how our aura expands when we feel love, joy, happiness?
The more we feel those feelings, the more we attract those kinds of vibrations right back to us and that opens the way for expanding our life in all aspects. When we open our hearts to others and do things that are kind and generous, our aura expands with that feeling of love & happiness. When people see us like that, they feel like smiling back and are at least open to us. Now, you ask, how can I make use of this?
If you are vibrating out waves of love and happiness, you will attract others to you who are responding to this. When we are committed to doing our best for someone, that is what opens the door to real progress. When we show how much we care, the other person appreciates it and that is not just about building a good reputation, it is also good karma.
Of course, February has Valentine's Day and just after New Year's, grocery stores started featuring aisles of heart shaped candy boxes.
Instead of focusing on that commercial aspect, ask yourself if yourself if you are prepared to create a great new relationship, if that is what you are looking for. What are the qualities and characteristics of the person you want in your life?
Have you cleared out any old baggage so that you can start fresh? What will you do differently this time?
If you are in a relationship that has lost some of its excitement, desire and attraction? Turn your attention back to your heart. Remember how at the beginning everything was romantic, sexy, appealing and fun? If you close your eyes and focus your thoughts on those feelings again, can you return to your heart that way to reinvigorate your long term relationship? Return to the heart and those radiant feelings that you were once capable of, and let your light shine out so that all can see it.
I always love hearing from you, so if you feel like sending me a note, calling or coming to see me, please do!
Have a wonderful day!
