Wolf Moon is the traditional name for the full moon in January. Why wolf? One story is that this is the time of year when wolves are most hungry during this time when food is scarce because of the snow and cold. Since the trees don't have leaves on them, sound travels farther, so people who do not usually hear them can hear them.
The illustration above is from the Old Farmer's Almanac website. I use almanacs all the time. Lots of interesting bits of folklore, gardening and other useful information.
So as we celebrate this full moon today and this week, what lessons does the wolf suggest?
what are the things you are crying out for?
What makes you howl?
What is the hunger that drives you?
Are there people out there that you want to hear from?
Are there people out there you want to hear you?
As we move into this new calendar year, what goals are you driving toward?
What vision do you want to move into?
Who are the people you run with?
Set off a howl and set things in motion!
