How will the world look in the morning? It all depends on what you were thinking about today.
As we all work to make our dreams into realities, there is a pattern that eludes our vision because the final pattern is the result of so many different individuals with so many different visions who are all acting independently. So when we see the final product there is some of our handiwork in there, plus bits of what everyone else is doing.
Visions of the future are rarely unanimous because everyone looks at it from different angles.
Look at how the Internet has evolved. It went from being a way for academic and military researchers to share information to being a place for everyone.
We use it to exchange personal messages with friends, to set up a place to shop for products we want, a place to look for work or create our own work. It is a place for artists, writers and musicians to show their work to the world without going through an agent, gallery or corporation. It is a place to research anything.
Its immense popularity then created new problems. Once these avenues were opened up that let anybody create any kind of website and put it out there, the next thing that happened was that the person searching has to wade through all kinds of stuff to find what they want. And the person posting has to learn all kinds of tricks to get people to come to their website.
The web is the biggest single example in the world of people all over the planet with competing and conflicting visions all working together without really working together.
Old myths often speak of order being created out of chaos, and here we have right in front of us a perfect example of that. And of course, it is not done yet. It is still order emerging from chaos.
There is something goofily ironic about the fact that at a time when some politicians are proposing to do away with Medicare that the topic most searched for was Charlie Sheen's drunken buffoonery. And now while there is still much confusion in the world about the uprisings in Arab countries and more jabbering instead of decisive leadership in the field of increasing our ability to develop and use solar, wind and geothermal energy to replace fossil fuels, among the most researched topics today were Chastity Bono's sex change operation, Schwarzenegger's divorce and the trial of a mother who murdered her daughter.
Perhaps the explanation is simply that people love a good story, and as tragic as it sounds, what all this may tell us is that people who tell stories about developing better sources of energy are not telling stories nearly as well as the people telling these other stories. I think that in order to make real progress in the world, we need better storytellers.
What will the world look like in the morning?

The Power of Enthusiasm
It has been said that to enjoy swing dance, all that is required is joyful enthusiasm and a ready partner. Much of the pleasure and adventure in life only requires these same two ingredients.
How many times have you wanted to try something new but hesitated because you didn't want to go by yourself?
But sometimes, that beginning of the new journey is all about you deciding to get up and go, and in so doing, finding others who enjoy the same things as you do.
Part of the adventure is simply being willing to get started and trust that you will meet others who share your enthusiasm.
How many of the things in life that give you pleasure and satisfaction are things that you simply had to learn by doing? Yes, most of them. Of course, at times we need teachers to show us the way to do things and give us knowledge about subjects we want to learn more about. But in the end, it is still all about getting up and putting one foot in front of the other.
How many things can you do that only require joyful enthusiasm and a ready partner?
If we remove all the other considerations from the picture and just get going, how much more joy would there be in our life?

Dreaming, Breathing, Quickly, Deeply
What is it that you want now more than anything? What would you do if you if this moment could be exactly as you wish?
Would you turn to see the face that goes with the voice you have been hearing? Would the touch you desire be soft? Would the comfort of the touch open to a whispered sound only audible between the two of us?
Do you know what I was dreaming? I had a feeling that your dream overlapped with mine. That is why when we talk, there is a similarity in our visions, and the things you want to say I say, and the things I want to say, you say.
When we dream and then it comes true, it is precognitive, and these dreams can become stunning in their intensity as we breathe deep and digest the idea that we are here now and we swim toward each other in this liquid atmosphere that surrounds us when we are engulfed in a feeling we savor. It totally surrounds us, this feeling, and we swim in it, and we breathe without effort, quickly, quickly as we look all around to see if we are really swimming, then deeply as we know we are here, and the waters part and we walk through them together, feeling the lifting of water, the lifting away of whatever we were thinking of a moment before we were here.

For You
What we have always desired flows close to the surface in this Valentine tide of energy cascading through the atmosphere.
When we hug, I can feel your desire. In your eyes, I can see the fire. In all the torrents of feelings pulsing through the space between us, there is a sweetness on the air and an earthy sound coming from your throat.
There is nothing so much as as the silvery moon, reflected on beads of sweat. There are outlines of excitement making themselves visible as well as audible on your breath.
What are those things you say without saying, you know without knowing, you feel even now, in memory, in spirit. Your hair is electric, picking up signals from the small sounds of evening, where the singing of all the creatures forms the words I want to say. They give voice to our feelings. Your hair brushes my skin as you lean over me, and you feel me tremble when those wisps stirs the edges of my spirit and the landscape of my body.
I feel your desire in your embrace. The scent of your true desire has escaped from under your perfume and made itself known just as our eyes met again.
The moonlight on your calf ascends your thigh and traces a silken path invisible to the touch, but everywhere to the eye.
I ask you again your name just to feel the way you pronounce it with your tongue.

Weekend Magic
Today is Friday and a great day for invoking the magic of Freya for good fortune in your dating activities this weekend. Who couldn't use a little magic in their love life?
If you don't have an active love life, you want one. If you have one, there is always room for a little more sparkle and excitement.
What intentions are you setting as you prepare for your Friday night? What would you like to have happen? What are you doing to make it happen?
If you were to call on Freya and ask her for assistance with something, what would it be?
Freya was one of the most sexual of the ancient goddesses. She was very open about enjoying and using her sexual energy, so it is very fitting that the times of the week which are most popular for inviting someone to get together with you are Friday and Saturday night, with Friday night, Freya's night, kicking off the weekend celebrations of lust, flirtation and fertility.
Interesting how it all fits together. Why else are Friday and Saturday nights the biggest nights for dating and partying? Because most people work a schedule from Monday through Friday, so Saturday and Sunday are the times when they get to sleep late then get up and just do things they want to do, and be with people they want to be with.
Freya opens the gateway to our pleasure each weekend. She celebrates abundance as well as sexuality, with our efforts having earned us enough money and freedom so that we can enjoy the weekend. And then heading back to work on Monday, she certainly supports our efforts to do well and make more money.
Doing what we like certainly facilitates our enjoyment of the activities by which we make money. And Freya is all about doing what we like.
For those of us whose money making activities often fall on weekends as well, I feel her blessing my efforts and making them ever more abundant, and then facilitating that flow of energy into the after hours, when the celebrations of life, and the expressions of love, or at least like, kick into high gear.
Enter the weekend on your day Freya!
So what is it you would like this weekend, reader?

The Power of Making Love Visible
Healing often takes place in forms that we do not recognize, because our tendency is to think of healing as more obvious and physical.
When feelings need to be healed, there are many ways to go about it. Often it is the love, compassion, kindness and cooperation that help heal.
But healing can also come through flirting, gentleness and creativity. Healing that needs to be done is often the common kind, the residue of divorces, end of relationships. Death presents different kinds of losses to heal, as do losses of career or jobs.
Loss of feelings is something that is sometimes visible on a person's face and body language, but some people are good at hiding it, and you cannot tell that they are in the process of healing too.
So here is a suggestion. Whenever you are in a position to be helpful to someone else, just do it because you can, and because it circulates good energy in the world.
Reiki and other forms of energy healing certainly do help with emotional healing and usually once a person tries it they can feel it.
For those of you with a partner, try expanding that feeling of warmth, gentleness and softness to your lovemaking. Make time to include this and notice what happens. Feel how the sexual healing expands and nurtures.
For those of you currently without a partner, try making more eye contact with the people you meet. See their souls light in their eyes. Offer them heartfelt compliments, and encourage them in any way you can.
Let go of the limiting notion that there is one perfect person for you but they are hidden somewhere. There are many people in the world with whom you can share good feelings, good experiences, joy and love. Viewed in that light, the world is abundant.
If we keep viewing our lives as some kind of a challenge to meet and marry the perfect person, we may be doomed to a life of searching for needles in haystacks.
Healing hurt feelings is a function of people extending love, joy, compassion and cooperation to as many people they come into contact with as they can.
We do have the power of making love visible. How often do we use it?

I Want My Heaven Now
I find it interesting that so many people care whether there is an afterlife and speculate about what it is like. My view is that I will find out when I get there. Meanwhile, I just want to enjoy this life.
These thoughts are not directed at any one religion, but rather all religions that concern themselves with the afterlife.
I can see how for some people it would be a real letdown to find out that after all these years of working and keeping up a house, looking after a family, spending 60 plus hours a week cultivating a career path that you drop dead and find out that there is no next life.
Of course some people adapt the point of view that it's OK if everything is out of whack here, because after we die, it will be better there. Some people are so certain of that that they will hurry their own death along to get there faster.
Not me.
There are certain moments here on earth, in this body, when we can get a taste of pure bliss. I don't know that any afterlife can top an orgasm. Maybe some people will try and argue that there is, but I still say that we won't know until we get there.
Are there other sublime experiences to be had in this lifetime? Yes, I can think of a bunch. Can you? If we can repeat those a bunch more times, we get to have heaven on earth.
Let the other people debate what heaven might be like. I am too busy looking for all the joy that is possible here. For some reason, I just got a vision of some BBQ ribs, corn on the cob, a summer salad, a cold micro brewed beer, and yes, that is another heavenly experience. I would make a longer list, but I need some sleep.
Yes, I want my heaven now.

Melodies, Mind and Body
When we are young, music speaks to us of the life before us, where there are many possibilities. Many older people may summon nostalgic memories. Since many people are now living longer, hearing some inspiring music or seeing some great live performances may still spark ideas of things yet to come.
Music communicates in many ways, on many levels. It encourages us to dance, engaging the senses, and it also sets our mind off in different directions. It keeps both mind and body limber.
Just as lyrics in music are stored in a different part of the brain than spoken words, it would seem that the memories triggered by songs can bring up associations from our subconscious in seemingly random patterns.
Music has its own history. It may have been created in a certain time or place and it can evoke memories, although the people who heard it when it was new may have very different memories associated with it than those who hear it a long time later.
Interestingly, the composer's intentions mean a lot to them when they are creating the music, but most listeners might enjoy it without ever knowing anything about those intentions. Quite amazing when you think about it, but it points to one simple truth. Just as we have no idea what a painter was thinking when they painted a picture, although we might enjoy looking at it and find ourselves appreciating it and being inspired by the finished product, the same thing happens when we hear a song we like the sound of. We may not ever know what the composer had in mind during the creation process, but we savor, and may be inspired by, the finished product.
So that gives music a unique power. Say, for example, hearing a popular piece of music reminds one person of an old lover from years ago, while another person hearing the same piece of music might have a memory of a career transition, or a summer vacation. Yet, hearing a piece of popular music can massage these emotional touchstones for millions of people at the same time in different ways.
The power of the melody has to be the unifying factor, even though lyrics are bound to send different people's minds off in different directions.
What is often suggested by music that we remember from when we were young is that there was a time when we looked at the world and saw a place where everything was possible. For many of us, good music still does.

A Surrealistic Life
Every day, it gets easier and easier for me to see this world as some kind of alternate reality I am just visiting.
For example, we are witnessing the worst oil spill in the history of the planet, which will muck up beaches and fishing for quite some time to come, killing untold numbers of birds and fish and making it impossible for some people to make a living for some unknown period of time. After all, the fishermen won't be able to fish, and not many people would want to eat what they are catching.
Yet, there are blowhards and wing nuts who somehow managed to get their own radio shows who can be heard saying that this is really no big deal, that this kind of thing happens all the time and nature will just clean it up.
Maybe the people who talk like this should be treated to an all you can eat buffet of freshly caught shrimp and fish from the Gulf Coast.
I'm no longer surprised by these corporate execs who will stop at nothing to increase their profits. Remember that buy who got busted last year for shipping contaminated peanuts even though he knew they were contaminated? He should be fed peanut butter sandwiches from that batch.
Then over on the other side of the planet, we have another bizarre series of events where one ethnic group is busy killing people of another ethnic group, just because they are different, and just because they are there.
It is like another nightmarish chapter of the mess in the Balkans that we watched unravel in the 90s.
Being a more playful spirit myself, I cannot imagine why some people's idea of fun would be to run around killing people. Why not have a weekend of sex, drugs and rock n roll?
Have fun, make money, start businesses, invite people to party with you. Enjoy a fair, festival, concert, a cool swim on a hot day. But, hey, but that's just me.
I do my best to live in an alternate universe. That other universe sure is messy.

How the World Began, Begins, Again
Does it really matter how the world began? I don't think so. What matters is that we are here now. What matters is what we do now. That is what matters.
Some of us are making money doing work that we love. Some of us are trying to make that transition into work that we love. Perhaps at present, the best some of us can say is that we have some income from our work. That helps for the moment.
What makes a difference is whether we can get up in the morning with the feeling that there are possibilities for us, that there are ideas we can try, methods we can check out.
Are we thinking of leads to check out? Even ideas that do not work can reveal other potentials. Sometimes new people we meet offer us useful ideas for our business. If we keep our eyes and ears open, we can explore these leads. Where one idea does not bear fruit, if we keep on looking, some other one will.
If we are in a situation where we simply see ourselves trading our labor for some money, there are ways to find pleasure in our every day life. Whether it is the pleasure of a cup of coffee during a break, the pleasure of communicating with friends through email, the pleasure of great sex after work, the pleasure of cooking a meal, the pleasure of reading a book, the pleasure of watching a movie, the pleasure of taking a bath and soaking in it a good long while, the pleasure of sitting by an open window, feeling the breeze and listening to the birds sing.
What does all that have to do with how the world began? Nothing. That is exactly my point. We will never be able to know the answer to that question. The stories from the various cultural folklore and mythologies are simply stories.
Why? At some point people felt a need to make up those stories rather than saying "I don't know" when they were asked how the world began.
But none of them matter. All that matters is that we appreciate each day, and find ways to find pleasure in each day. Stay focused on getting the most out of today.
How the world began is nowhere near as important as how the next moment begins.

The Art of the Apprentice
Once upon a time, the normal process for learning a new skill or trade was for the person who wanted to learn to apprentice with someone who had established a reputation for excellence.
Companies today seem less interested in making any such arrangements. They want people who either are already experts to just jump in as contractors and hit the ground running or hire absolute beginners with very limited skills who possess the virtue of being available for cheap wages.
So it is in our personal endeavors that we will have more of an opportunity to create an apprentice experience.
Although apprenticeship could refer to people learning skills from carpentry to masonry, it would also refer to a person learning how to cook well enough to become a chef or a master brewer. There are those who apprentice to learn how to be master gardeners or herbalists.
The term can also be used relative to a person learning a musical instrument, a sport, and also in learning hobbies like sewing, glasswork, carving, beadwork or pottery.
Apprenticeship also has a long history in esoteric learning, such as those who want to learn witchcraft or shamanism, those who want to learn tarot, astrology, kabbalah, runes, magic and spiritual healing.
Being an apprentice is about a devotion to excellence. The true apprentice desires to learn to perfrom their chosen endeavor as well as it can be done, and are always interested in learning more about it.
A person who is truly an apprentice knows that there is always more to be learned through practice and study,, so that no matter how recognized they are for their abilities, they know that they do not know it all. So there is a certain amount of humility and quiet pride that characterizes the person who apprentices.
At a certain point, such a person will be recognized as having mastery of their chosen skills. That may come in the form of official recognition and it may also come in the form of recognition by those who employ them or appreciate the beauty and excellence they display in their endeavors.
To be an apprentice in any field is a joy and a way that gives focus to a person's energies. Rewards eventually come to those who choose to take up the art of the apprentice. At some point along their path, they savor the satisfaction of a job well done, and the adulation of those who recognize it.
If you are not getting a deep level of satisfaction in life, consider the art of the apprentice as a path to pursue. You can apprentice in absolutely any field you choose. Anything and everything, from sexual pleasure to embroidery, from tarot reading to picture framing, from home building to auto repair, from software design to stand up comedy, from drumming to belly dance and anything else you can imagine can be areas that a person can choose as a vehicle for their apprenticeship.
The art of the apprentice is a vehicle for getting more out of life.

Merriment and Maypoles
May 1 is the day that Maypoles were erected in villages and fields and people danced around them, weaving brightly colored ribbons as they danced. The Celts named it Beltane after the god Bel. The Germans refer to the evening leading into it as Walpurgis Night, when witches would gather to welcome in the spring. All of the countries of Europe had similar traditions, with varying folk traditions, and names that reflect each culture.
The reason for these large phallic symbols was to bring joy and fertility to this year's crops. As a symbol for the fertilizing the earth, this was very public and festive and often times other ritual dances also celebrated the earth coming back to life and producing abundantly.
Some people would also have sex in the fields and gardens as a way of using sympathetic magic, their celebratory couplings infusing the fields with their pleasure, their energy and their hopes for a great year.
Given that we are not all farmers or gardeners, still there are seeds that we have planted in our lives this year that we want to grow. Those seeds could be the next stage of our career or job, they could be the seeds of the various relationships we are nurturing. They could be the seeds of success in all aspects of our lives.
Another old tradition is the jumping of the bonfire to signal the return of the heat and fertility into our lives.
Bringing fresh flowers into the house is a way of bringing in the spirit of spring. Flowers send their signal through the whole environment that the colorful fragrant bursting out of energy is all around us.
Although it is barely spring here in Colorado where we had snow this morning, and gardeners do not plant their outdoor gardens until after Mother's Day, when I was in Ireland several years ago at Beltane, the newspapers had photos and stories about welcoming in the first day of summer.
Beltane is the polar opposite of Samhain, or Halloween or Day of the Dead. it seems very fitting that ancient people had one major holiday signaling the beginning of summer dedicated to birth and rebirth, and another exactly six months later, signaling the beginning of winter, and honoring the dead.
In another symbology Beltane and Samhain can be seen as the yin and yang. The energies of the major seasonal shifts signal major shifts within people as well. If we attune our energies to growth right now, and we enjoy the bright colors and energies, we are priming the pump, and affirming that we will bring beautiful creations into being, beginning now.
Celebrate the season with positive thoughts and actions to expand upon our previous successes and build new beginnings where and how we choose.

Coming Back to Life
Coming back to life has one resonance as the return of spring and the ancient fertility rituals that celebrate this fact of life. Pagans reawakened the earth with dancing singing and sexual pleasure to create sympathetic magic in the fields and gardens, imparting their energy to the reawakening of the earth and inspiring the growth of the spring planting.
The early church overlaid the story of Christ's Resurrection over the old Estara or Ostara rituals to celebrate the idea of his rising from the dead. Of course, for those who can entertain other perspectives and the quirky humor of author Tom Robbins, in Another Roadside Attraction, he spins a tale about how the early disciples snatched the body from the tomb and hid it and then told everyone he rose from the dead, in order to build up the religion around the Christ story. Robbins uses his wit to poke fun at all kinds of ideas in his books.
On another note, there is also a coming back to life that we often need to do after we face a serious setback. A death in the family, a loss of a job, end of a relationship, bankruptcy, or any number of other difficult developments that can set us back in life can sometimes send a person into a withdrawal or retreat from life. A person can get depressed over such things.
To rebound from such things, often a personal ritual is needed to signal to body, mind, spirit and emotions that you are back and ready to be back. Engaging in a symbolic act signals to your self and the universe that you are done with your period of mourning and are ready to spring back into action.
Spring Equinox is the tipping point and the Easter rituals reaffirm this message. Time to bounce back. Time to move from darkness into light. There are all kinds of ways to do this. Love, laughter, music, dance, all kinds of things can work. At this time of year, the symbols of coming back to life are all around us. We just have to activate them.

February Energies
February is a mood swing kind of month. We go from warm and sunny back to snow and ice, a couple of times. The days are getting longer, but also colder, so there is a constant adjustment.
Some of us may be working on taxes now, planning and getting bookings ahead for the year, so it is a month to really lay the groundwork to make things happen.
Energies may be back and forth like the weather right now. Notice it. This is where we put things in motion.
Right now the Olympics are on, and some people are watching every day while others of us have not watched any of it, and have no idea who is winning.
It is ironic, isn't it?
Every four years, we get people together from all over the world to gather peacefully and joyfully to enjoy watching the best young athletes demonstrate their skills.
The irony is this. Every four years we can get this peaceful gathering. In between then, we still have wars. Yes, I know I am idealistic for even suggesting this thought. Imagine a world with more peace than war, instead of more war than peace.
The days are visibly longer now and it will be warm again. We have done some spring cleaning and celebrated the red, sexy holidays.
Dreams come easier and more frequently with candles, and we can dream of all kinds of things right now. Nights are still long and cold, and candles prepare the way for dreams and soft sleep.

New Buddha Poster Boy?
Since Tiger Woods announced that he is going to resume his practice of Buddhism as a way of working through his problems, it will be interesting to see if he becomes a poster boy for it, the way Madonna did for Kabbalah.
Nothing wrong with that at all. Buddhists have some beautiful and useful traditions.
It will be interesting to see if he starts winning big again if people will attribute his wins to his Buddhist practices. Or if he manages to avoid any more scandals, will they attribute it to his Buddhist practices?
By the way, I think all of that hype over his affairs is over blown. People are just so voyeuristic they love to pick apart other people's bones. Do we know for a fact that he and his wife didn't have some kind of understanding about extracurricular activities, and she just blew her lid when it became public?
Even losing athletes have attractive women trying to score with them. Money, celebrity and prestige always bring out the groupies. Rock bands, actors, real estate developers, CEOs, politicians, all have a buffet line of interested dates.
Look at Donald Trump, with his comb over and everything, and how many beautiful young wives? People used to wonder how a dork like Henry Kissinger used to get so many hot dates. His answer: "Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac."
None of this is really amazing. It has been going on forever. We just love talking about it, don't we? We daydream about what we would do if we made it big, and we speculate about what other people do when they hit it big. It's all talk until it's your turn. Hey, tell me again. What's that stuff that makes the world go round?

Lust & Valentines
Valentine's Day has its real origins in the old Roman holiday of Lupercalia, which was a very lusty holiday. Men who were the priests of Pan would run through the streets in furry loincloths, wielding little leather strips. Women would bare their bodies so that they could be playfully struck with these little leather thongs, stripping themselves in public to offer a larger exposure, it was considered good luck and fertility magic to be touched in this way. Modesty had no place in this ancient festival. People publicly and openly played sexual games and enjoyed sexual pleasure.
Think about how many playful aspects of sexuality had origins in this festival. When did B&D play originate with their leather toys, garments and regalia? Lupercalia certainly popularized at least an aspect of it. How about party games like Spin the Bottle? What other popular sexual play had their origins in these ancient bawdy festivals? Obviously, the festival was popular and hugely celebrated for centuries, and among some parts of the population, it still is.
Lupercalia gets its name from Lupa, the she wolf who suckled the twins, Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome. They were regarded as aspects of the origin of the wild god, Faunus, the Roman god who was the equivalent of Pan.
As the church became more powerful, they tried to get people to abandon the old Pagan festivals, but the challenge was how to get them to quit doing these things when so many people were having so much fun? Even though church leaders declared participation in Lupercalia to be a sin and forbid people to participate, the people largely ignored the church's orders and rules and continued to party on.
So in the 5th century, the church continued to use the tactic it had used with other holidays they were unable to get the people to give up. Using the strategy, if you can't beat them, join them, they simply renamed the party that people were already going to, and abracadabra! Saturnalia, the celebration of the Winter Solstice becomes Christmas, and Lupercalia becomes Valentine's Day (to name just two). Of course, there is Easter, which changes its date every year because it is celebrated on the Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring Equinox. Those fertility rites included the symbology of rabbits and eggs, indicators of plenty of copulation, and that is why it is always amusing to me how the great church holiday is still festooned with decorations of rabbits and eggs. If the people won't quit having parties, just slap a new label on it and announce that it really is an old church celebration.
Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar opens at the scene of Lupercalia, with Caesar and Mark Antony as participants.
Because of the combination of religious and political power, they finally managed to drive the bawdy aspects of the holiday underground.
So the church declared that in honor of an early church martyr, St. Valentine, the holiday would be a celebration of romantic love, affection and dedication. Of course, the original St. Valentine had as much to do with romance as rabbits do with the resurrection. Well, I guess if you are doing it frequently, some people may be praying for a resurrection.
All of the fabrications around St. Valentine being a patron of romance are just that. During the Middle Ages, in the time of writers like Geoffrey Chaucer, all kinds of stories about romance became popular.
The modern greeting card industry dates back to the 19th century, and they, of course, have profited mightily from promoting the sending of Valentine cards (a billion a year, according to the US Greeting Card Association), much the same way as the diamond cartels have profited by inventing and promoting the fiction of diamonds being the symbol of love. Industry has now expanded to promoting the sales of teddy bears and winter pajamas as Valentines gifts since the market is already saturated with heart shaped boxes of chocolates.
So if you are celebrating the real spirit of the holiday this weekend, it is not to be found in buying stuff labeled romantic. It is to be found in lusty playfulness and embracing the joy and pleasure of sex.

Primal Multi-tasking
It is interesting how we multi-task all day because there are so many things to do, and we have to pay attention to several things going on at once. Yet, when nature shifts her energies, it is easy to observe how we feel the surges of energy that come with spring, the anticipation of longer days and warming weather can stir us and shift our attention.
It is like the full moon nights, when people just feel like being still and gazing at her for a while. She calls to us, no matter what else we are doing. Our primal instinct draws our attention to the full moon because we have been watching the movements of the moon and the seasons ever since caveman days.
Although most of us have shifted our attention from being farmers or hunter/gatherers, when paying close attention to these things meant life or death to ways of earning a living that are disconnected from the natural cycles of things. Ye we still feel called to it, and that is why winter draws us in and spring brings us out. And the moon stirs our souls.
No matter how hi-tech we get and how much we multi-task, our primal instincts will always beckon, and nature always gives us the energy we need, whether we know enough to ask for it or not.

Hail Spring Fever!
The idea of spring cleaning goes back to the ancient Romans. February was time for purification and cleansing. Time to clear out the clutter and debris and get ready for the new growth in spring, which naturally leads to the spring fertility rituals.
Centuries before there was a Valentine's Day, there was a Lupercalia, a very popular festival celebrated at mid February, featuring the return of the Horny Old Goat. Did he ever really go away?
It was a very bawdy, primal festival featuring lusty play and fetish toys such as little whips that were used to arouse erotic energies.
Yes, it was a randy celebration of the rites of spring that makes all the giving of greeting cards, chocolates and roses boring by comparison.
In short, the ancients cleared the way for a vigorous rebound of energy to shake off the lethargy that resulted from all the overabundance of food and drink during the Yule holidays, leaping into the new year with a wink and some lip-smacking lust.

The Horny Old Goat
This evening I stopped by the tasting room at Left Hand Brewery. There are other good local breweries in Colorado too, but Left Hand is on the way home from the grocery in the neighborhood where I live, and I had been wanting to do this for a while. Glad I did. They have a few flavors there that are not available in six packs, so I tried one of these, a Rye Bock. It was delicious and gave a pleasant buzz.
I like the idea of supporting a locally owned business that makes a good product and employs people right here. I like to buy locally produced fruits, vegetables, milk, beeswax, weed and honey too.
After a day's work, sometimes a good beer is the perfect thing. When I was growing up in Chicago, there had been a long history of independent breweries and beer gardens, but it changed when the last independent, Meister Brau, was bought by Miller. Miester Brau used to make a bock beer every spring, and traditionally, bock is only a spring beer. They had also created Lite Beer, which has been a big winner for Miller, although I think they quit making the bock beer years ago, or maybe I just haven't been living in parts of the country where they sell it.
Yes, I am enjoying the renaissance of microbreweries.
This may seem strange to you, but in old Europe, February 1 signaled the beginning of spring. Groundhog Day originated in Germany. The Celtic celebration of Imbolc also comes on this day. So here we are at the first day of spring, celebrating with a drink of bock beer. I still miss the daffodils that would always be in bloom by this date when I lived in Georgia. As a harbinger of spring, what could be better than a sun yellow flower with a sweet scent?
The legend on the Rye Bock bottle says that it was traditional for farmers to feed their goats rye in the spring to make them a little more randy. I didn't know they needed help with that. They say the Bavarians originated the idea of putting rye in beer along with the hops. How's this for a beer label? "Will our Rye Bock exacerbate your spring fever? Maybe not, but trying out old folklore never tasted so good."
Don't know about you, but this felt like a great way to welcome in spring, especially following this gorgeous full Wolf Moon. Here's to all you old goats and goatesses!

Attraction
Attraction is a powerful way to work with the energies of the universe. Attraction is the best way to get what we want. It is about making things happen, using your will to create results. Just as importantly, it is about sending out signals to those people in the universe who are on a similar wavelength will recognize us so that you can combine your energies with them. You have heard that old saying "you catch more bees with honey than with vinegar." This is how it works.
You do have to do things to get the signals out there, like talk to people, send them email messages, meet people live and in person, get involved in business, community, arts or charity projects that interest you. You have to stir up energies by being in action.
Signals can also be sent out in a very subtle way by thinking about your goals, dreams and desires, and focusing on bringing them into your life.
These signals can be enhanced with the use of Attraction Oil, which combines the power of aromatherapy with the magic of the Law of Attraction.
As you apply the oil every day, you reaffirm what it is you desire to attract more of in your life, whether it is business, love, relationships. health, new friends, more connection to spirit, whatever it is that you really want or need.
Then all throughout the day, each time you take a deep breath and catch the scent, you are reminded of why you are wearing the oil, and you restate your intentions, your affirmations, sending out these desires on waves and vibrations of scent.
Of course, the scent of the oil will also literally draw people to you. They will ask what you are wearing. In this way, Attraction Oil can literally help introduce you to new people.
When I create the oil, I hold the magical intention that it will enhance the purposes of whoever uses it. Then when you add your intentions to the application, it gets a second power boost to launch your rockets of desire out there and engage the Law of Attraction on your behalf.
We have to be creative and use every advantage available to us in order to succeed. What is it you want to attract? If you are ready to make this real, if you are ready to make changes in your life now, send out a signal so that everyone will know, and those who are of like mind can be drawn to you.
You do have to do things to get the signals out there, like talk to people, send them email messages, meet people live and in person, get involved in business, community, arts or charity projects that interest you. You have to stir up energies by being in action.
